Commenting on your own work.

If you don't care I don't either.

In the past few months I have watched an annoying trend. People uploading new walls and skins and then not even bothering to leave a comment or explanation.. This annoys the hell out of me. If someone has spent any time at all working on a new upload you would think that they woul at least want to tell me wnat resolutions it will work at or something.

For those that upload 3D wallpapaer if you don't leave some sort of comment it immediatly sets off the theft buzzer. Making me think that the wire frame or the terain map has been stolen from someone else.

Basically I believe that if you spend the time to create something you should have something to say about it and if you don't, I don't.

I never thought about that, but yes that makes sense. When I was writing software for public consumption I always took pains to fully document and describe it. I wanted people to use it and did everything I could toward that end.

If anything, at the very the least the skinner is doing their work a disservice by not commenting on it (if it is their work of course

). In a similar way to Gene Nash, when I upload something I want people to at least give it a try and sometimes a screenshot alone is not enough. This is especially true of skins for desktopX which may have features that can't be expressed in a static image, but is also true of many other types of skins - windowblinds with animations for example.
Similarly, alot of skinners miss an opportunity when they upload uninformative screenshots - I've seen windowblinds uploads where the screenshot consists of a taskbar only

I have recently become a ss fanatic...my ss's have the mouse pointer in about 7 to 10 different places to show how everything works,hehe.........even showing some examples of forced coloring.......wish I had been doing this sooner.

Just another thought...if someone takes the time to comment on your skin, and because there was none or maybe not enough of an explanation to go along with the skin they ask what prog was used, etc., It should be common curtesy to answer that person. I have run into that situation a few times, mostly with wallpaper.
